Title: Gender Analysis for the Youth Entrepreneurship for Future of Food in Agriculture (YEFFA) program
Period: October 2024 – March 2025
Project Description:
The assignment aims to establish a clear understanding of the specific needs, interests, vulnerabilities, and capacities of young women and men, which is necessary for designing and implementing gender-responsive and gender-transformative programs. This goal underscores that pre-existing gender inequalities in the agriculture sector have increased the vulnerability of young women and men as they are exposed to many challenges, including limited participation, access to economic resources, and lack of sustainable livelihoods.
The YEFFA program will contribute to the transformation of agri-food systems and unlock millions of dignified and fulfilling work opportunities that are more resilient, sustainable, and equitable, retaining value from Africa in Africa. This implies that this study must generate new and measurable evidence to enable the program to track the extent of change at the individual, household, community, and institutional levels.
The overall objective of gender analysis is to inform the design and implementation of gender-responsive interventions under the YEFFA. Gender Analysis will cover 11 countries: Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Malawi, Rwanda, Mozambique, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Mali, and Nigeria.
